The numbers

Every loudness target and peak ceiling worth knowing, in one place, with the behaviour that actually matters — which platforms turn you down, which turn you up, and which do nothing at all.

The services converged deliberately, so one master covers almost all of them. Master for the song, land somewhere sensible, and keep a true-peak ceiling the encoders can live with.

Speech is judged on intelligibility in bad conditions — a car, a train, a kitchen. Consistency between episodes matters more than hitting the number exactly.

These are not recommendations. Broadcast loudness is contractual, and in the United States it is federal law. LUFS and LKFS are the same measurement under different names.

The big change here is what gets measured. Dialogue-gated loudness reads only the sections where speech is detected, so a long action sequence with no talking does not drag the number around.

Measure your file against these.
